Students who are accountable for their own learning understand the importance of being well prepared for assessments. They know when their exams are taking place and plan for success by creating and committing to a revision timetable well in advance.

If you are in Years 7-9, you can make your revision highly effective by checking your DCPro Overview. This will help you identify the knowledge, skills and topics in which you are already performing strongly, as well as the areas that may need further revision before your assessment.

If you are in Years 10 and 11, review your past assessment performance and curriculum tracking documents to identify and prioritise the areas that require the greatest attention.

Remember that all lesson materials and classwork resources are available on Synergy Class Work. If you are unsure where to start or need additional support, speak to your teacher. They are there to help you succeed.

Creating an Effective Revision Timetable

A good revision timetable can help you stay organised, reduce stress and make the most of your study time. Follow these steps to create a timetable that works for you and helps you achieve your goals.

1. Plan Ahead

Don't wait until exams are around the corner before you start revising. Take time to map out your weeks and identify when you can study. Planning ahead helps you feel more in control and avoids last-minute cramming.

2. Be Realistic

Create a timetable that fits around your school day, hobbies, family commitments and time to relax. It is better to stick to a realistic plan than to create an ambitious timetable that is difficult to follow.

3. Balance Your Subjects

Make sure you allocate time to all of your subjects. Spend extra time on areas you find more challenging, but don't ignore the subjects you feel confident in. Regular revision across all subjects will help you retain knowledge and build confidence.

4. Study Little and Often

Short, focused revision sessions are usually more effective than long periods of study. Try to revise regularly throughout the week rather than leaving everything until the last minute.

5. Review Your Progress

Your timetable should be flexible. At the end of each week, reflect on what worked well and what could be improved. Adjust your plan if needed to make sure it continues to support your learning.

6. Stay Consistent

The key to successful revision is consistency. Following your timetable regularly will help you develop positive study habits, stay motivated and feel better prepared for assessments and exams.

Remember

Effective revision is not about studying for as many hours as possible. It is about using your time wisely, staying organised and building a routine that helps you learn and remember information effectively. With a clear revision timetable, you can work smarter, feel more confident and achieve your best.
